Cast Auditions: No previous theater experience is necessary! Just prepare a verse and chorus or one minute of a song from a musical, and we will provide cold-read excerpts. Please wear comfortable clothing - tennis shoes at the very least! Sign up for audition slots at one of our Interest Meetings; walk-ins also welcome!

Pit Auditions: Please have 5 minutes of music of your own choice prepared. You will also be asked to sight-read a short passage of music. Please email the Pit Director, Katharina Bernard, at kb3uh@virginia.edu to set up an audition time. If you can't make it during any of these times, please contact the Pit Director to set up a different time. Walk-ins are welcome! Pit auditions will take place in the Old Cabell Hall practice modules.

First Year Players is an independent student-run theatre group at the University of Virginia.
Every semester we get together to produce a musical. Recent productions have included Footloose, Sweeney Todd, and Urinetown. While the cast and stage managers are restricted to first years, the Orchestra, Technical Staff, Artistic Staff, and Production Staff may be of any year.
